01: What conditions must I satisfy?

The main condition for using Backup-Connect is that you have a broadband Internet connection. This can be via DSL, Cable or glass. Backup-Connect recommends a minimum upload speed of 256 kbps.

Other specifications:


     • 30 MB available space on your hard disc
     • internal memory of at least 128MB

02: What are the supporting oprating systems?

Backup-Connect uses Java-based software. The main advantage of this is that it supports all commonly used operating systems.

Supporting oprating systems:

     • Windows 95/ 98/ ME/ NT/ 2000/ XP/ 2003
     • Mac OS X
     • Linux 6.x/ 7.x/ 8.x / 9.x
     • Netware 5.1 or later
     • Solaris 2.x/ 7.x/ 8.x


It is also possible to work from various operating systems within one network. So a company with, for example, 4 pc´s and 1 mac and a Linux server can use one backup subscription.

03: How much data storage do I need?

The amount of data that you need will depend on the amount of data you want to store.

To get a good idea of the amount of data you need, you can carry out the following operation:

     • Place the backup files that you require in one folder
     • Be selective in your choice, make sure that you choose only data files and not software
     • Select this folder with your right mouse button and select ´Properties´
     • The data used will now be displayed

Although the data will be compressed by approx. 50%, we recommend that you take at least the current data amount as a minimum, this is because you will be storing data from multiple moments
